My friend Don Voorhis died of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
Don was a church member who became a friend, a husband who tenderly cared for his terminally ill wife, a dad who poured love into the lives of his daughters and grandchildren, a widow who found new love, a man whose journey through ALS is a great testimony to the love of God shown through the kindness of friends and strangers alike.
Don has been gone since 2010, but I think his story still needs to be told…
Marty, you never seize to amaze me with your amazing stories. I can hardly type thru the tears of all your wonderful stories as I am reading them.

Got chills watching the video. What a great community of people to come help this man build his dream car. Love the part in the video of him behind the wheel driving it and shifting it smoothly between the gears❣
This is a wonderful story. Thank you for sharing. It brought a smile to my face. I will ask Cheryl if she would mind if I shared it with the TV Vintage Vehicles club.
Thanks, Marty.
Must have missed this post.
Thank you
I’m in hospital getting over bowel cancer surgery.
We are blessed with the love, prayers and kindness of strangers and friends.
Awesome story Marty
My husband, Lyen, has been dx with AlZ. My first husband died of Marty’s illness. Friends here in FL have helped rebuild our decks and minister in all ways to help us…God sends friends to help and we can hardly get over their kindnesses.
Helen, thanks for sharing your story. Please know that you and Lyen are in my prayers. – Marty
