So Jane and I bought a Tesla!
I’ve been in love with Tesla cars since I first saw one 7 or 8 years ago. Spotted it in a parking lot in Las Vegas.
Slowly rounding a corner at the far end of the lot, the beautiful white car drove silently toward me, its slanted headlights – outlined by bright LEDs – looking like the eyes of a big cat on the prowl. The Tesla had graceful and aerodynamically clean lines, its futuristic shape giving off the impression that a simple press on the accelerator could launch the car into orbit. This was no ordinary automobile. It was a rocketship on wheels!
And for me, it was love at first sight.
But – as they say – love doesn’t pay the bills. And the Tesla is not an inexpensive bill to pay. So it took quite a few years to move from that “ah ha” moment in a Las Vegas parking lot to a special Friday afternoon in Cincinnati, Ohio when Jane (my fiancee) and I took delivery of a brand spanking new Tesla Model S.
That’s our car in the photo below.
Pretty, ain’t she?
Jane and her son Britton selected the color – Midnight Silver Metallic. We hadn’t actually seen that color live on a Tesla so we were a little nervous about it. But as soon as we saw our car parked in the Express Pickup area at the dealership we knew Jane and Britton had hit a home run with the color selection.
Everything about buying the Tesla was amazing. Describing to friends the process from test drive to online ordering to contactless delivery almost always elicits a surprised, “That sounds so much better than going to a typical car lot and haggling with pushy salespeople!”
I’ll say! And after they see the Model S for themselves a number of them admit, “You know, I’ve always secretly wanted a Tesla too!”
So I’m writing this little series of articles to tell you what a fantastic automobile our Tesla has turned out to be. I’ll share with you details about the car itself, how we got a test drive, the ordering and delivery process, and what we’ve discovered about the car since bringing it home and putting some miles on it.
Now if you are one of those folks who think you could never afford to buy a Tesla you may be surprised to discover that some of the most popular Tesla models compare very favorably to the cost of a traditional SUV. And when you consider that the Tesla doesn’t use any gas, requires no oil changes, needs little or no maintenance, and has very few parts that can break, the cost of owning may be less than the car you’re driving now!
Best of all, being all-electric, Tesla cars are zero-emission vehicles. So if you want to help the environment by lowering your carbon footprint, Tesla is a great way to do it!
Before diving into all the details of my Tesla experience I want to let you know that if, at some point, you decide to purchase a Tesla, you can do both of us a favor by using a referral code that will get you 1,000 FREE Supercharger miles! And I’ll get 1,000 miles too! It’s a Win/Win offer!
Ready? The code is https://ts.la/martin/4151. Write that down!
That’s it. No gimmicks. Just be sure to add the code in the appropriate space when you order.
And now, let’s dive into all the things that make Tesla the most iconic car on the market today!
