Tesla is a different kind of car. Unlike other Hybrids or Electric Vehicles (EV’s) that often are nothing more than traditional cars retrofitted to make use of batteries, Tesla cars are built from the ground up as 100% electric vehicles. This means there are no engines with all the moving parts that can (and will) fail over time. No starters, no solenoids, no water pumps, no radiators, no belts, no carburetors, no spark plugs, etc. The simple magic of Tesla cars is that they are primarily a big powerful battery coupled to one or more electric motors and surrounded by a beautiful sleek body. Tesla’s electric motors have only one moving part. The battery and drive unit in our Model S are warranted for 8-years or 150,000 miles. Everything else is covered for 4 years or 50,000 miles.
But not only are Tesla drive units reliable, they are extremely powerful. The Model S can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds! Some Tesla owners enjoy hearing their passengers scream when the car goes into “Launch Mode” and takes off like a rocket. Then the passengers laugh hysterically when the acceleration is over and they realize they’ve just experienced something very few cars on the road can do.
Just for fun, check out this YouTube video of passenger reactions to the Tesla Model S accelerating in what is called “Ludicrous+ Mode”.
Isn’t that LUDICROUS??
Of course, most drivers don’t press the limits like this but they do enjoy the power that’s available to them when pulling into traffic or merging onto a highway.
Besides the power, I love how smooth and silent the Tesla is. It travels beautifully over all kinds of roads. In Sport Mode it handles twists and turns like a sports car. In Comfort Mode it rides like a luxury sedan. So which is it – a sedan or a sports car? I’d say it’s both!
Or maybe it’s BOTH+!
At the heart of every Tesla is a sophisticated technology system that provides many options to drivers that are not found in traditional cars. Want to soften the suspension? Or tighten the steering? Or let the AutoPilot assist you on the highway? The Tesla can do it all on the fly.
And there’s more! Much MUCH more!
Read on to learn how the Tesla can park itself, or drive itself from that parking space to pick you up at the door of your favorite restaurant, or automatically open the garage door when you pull into the driveway, or – well, just click on the link to go deeper into the amazing world of Tesla.
