At the very heart of our Tesla Model S is a gorgeous 17-inch digital display serving as the control center for nearly every aspect of the car. In the photo on the right, the screen is displaying the Navigation Map that comes standard. You can input destination information on the screen itself or use voice control. “Navigate to Costco,” is a command I frequently use! But this is no ordinary GPS navigator. Coupled with the Tesla Autopilot, you can instruct it to take you to a destination in another city, or for that matter another state. Navigate on Autopilot will guide you up highway on-ramps, drive the car at whatever speed you set, change lanes and ultimately bring you down the off-ramp and on your way to your next stop. Bear in mind that Autopilot requires you to keep a hand lightly on the wheel for safety reasons.

The Navigation Map will also plot out a course for you when going on a long trip. It will guide you from Supercharger to Supercharger if needed and closely monitor your battery usage to make sure you don’t run out of “gas.” Tesla Superchargers are usually located in places nearby restaurants and shops where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal while you wait for the car to finish charging. You do have to allot extra time when going on trips that require Supercharging. Here’s an example screenshot of a trip from Lexington, KY to Boston, MA. The Superchargers are in red:

Isn’t this fun?

But there’s still more to discover about the amazing Tesla Model S!

Don’t forget to use that referral code if you decide to order a Tesla! It will get both of us 1,000 free Supercharging miles! Win/win Baby!

Here’s the code: https://ts.la/martin/4151

And now, let’s look more deeply into what makes Tesla cars so special!

Note that most Supercharging stops in this example are 30-40 minutes long. The Trip Planner avoids legs where the battery will get very low so most stops require less charging than it would take if you were trying to recharge to 100% from say 10 or 20%.

One of the neat features of our Model S is its ability to play Netflix, YouTube, Hulu and other video sources when the car is parked. So if you’d rather see an episode of “Game of Thrones” or watch your favorite YouTube channel while getting charged up it’s all available to you on that 17-inch screen. Oh, and there are video games too!
