America Needs More Muslims

Khizr and Ghazala Khan.

An ordinary American family.

Their son, Capt. Humayun S.M. Khan, was killed in action in Baquabah, Iraq on 9 June, 2004. Capt. Khan died protecting fellow soldiers from a car bomb.

He was a true American hero.

So are his parents.

The Khans are one of the countless American families who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of America. They belong to that revered company of people called “Gold Star Families.”

And they are Muslim.

They are deserving of nothing less than our utmost respect.

They are people who make me proud to be an American.

America needs more – not fewer – citizens like the Khan family.
